50% seat to be reserved for womens in all Panchayati Raj Institutions of Orissa

Hence forth 50% seat will be reserved for womens in all the Panchayati Raj Institutions . The Chairmans of the Zilla Parisads will be nominated as Vice-Chairman of the District Planning Committee.

The members of Zilla Parisad will be nominated to the higher education Institutions of their zone. The Chairman of the Panchayat Samittee will be the Vice Chairman of the block level Advisory committee of the Civil Sullpy department. The meeting of Gram Sabha (Village Committee) , Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samity, and Zilla Parishad will be held in a particular date .

The seat rotation will not be changed for at least for two terms. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced this in the state level Panchayati Raj Day celebration held here on Friday in the Kalinga Stadium.

The Chief Minister further said that the act of DPC will be amended to nominate Chairmans of the Zilla Parisads as Vice-Chairman of the District Planning Committee. To bring the womens in to the main stream 50 % reservation will be made for womens in all Panchayati Raj instituations.

Panchayati Raj Minister Prafulla Chandra Samal, Textiles Minister Anjali Behera, SC and ST Development Minister Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha, Senior leader of BJD and Rajyasabha MP Pyari Mohan Mohapatra, MP Prasana Patasani, Rudra Madhab Ray, Legislature Kalpataru Das, spokes on the occasion. About 20 thousand BJD workers and leaders from 6234 Panchayats were joined in this Panchayati Raj Celebration.
