CM Naveen Patnaik asks district Collectors to take special measures for providing drinking water.
Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday review the water scarcity and heat wave conditions through video conferencing with the district Collectors.
He asked each district administration to take special measures for providing drinking water in the critical areas. He advised the Collectors to collect village wise information and ensure availability of adequate drinking water through mobile tankers at least twice a day.
Pattnaik directed the Collectors and the concerned departmental officers to set up more tube wells in the crisis pockets and ensure regular maintenance and repair of the defunct tube wells. He advised steps to be taken to set up tube wells in the premises of Anganwadi centres functioning in Government places by June.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday asked the district Collectors to identify no-water-source areas and provide drinking water through mobile tankers. The Chief Minister also laid similar stress on provision of potable water in scarcity villages in the marine belt.Even he said that keeping in view the low voltage crisis, Gen-sets should be utilised on hire basis to ensure round-the-clock water supply.
