CM announces to rehabilitate displaced tribals of Bandhugaon, Narayanpatna

A day after the tribals of Bandhugaon and Narayanpatna attempted self-immolation here, the state government has stepped in to bail out the distressed dalits sitting on indefinite hunger strike at Lower PMG here.

The representatives (10) of the group met the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and apprised him of the situation that around 500 families of Narayanpatna and Bandhugaon areas of Koraput have lost their lands and houses after the Maoist-backed Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha (CMAS) activists forcibly acquired their properties.

The Chief Minister has announced a package for them. As per the package , about 100 peoples will be provided credit for self employment, 300 families will be provided house under Mo Kudia project and they will be given relief as such until they are in the temporary camp. The Chief Minister also given them commitment that the peoples will be provided with health service, study facility and meals in the Camp. Meanwhile, the district administration has also assured to look into the matter and provide rehabilitation to them.

Earlier on Monday evening, members of the group attempted self-immolation after their pleas were ignored by the district administration.
