CM reviews conservation of wildlife in state

A high level meeting held in the Orissa Secretariat on Tuesday under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to review the action taken for conservation of the wildlife . As per the review the elephant are living in 27 districts, out of 30 districts.

The number of total elephant in the state is 1862. Out of which 954 elephant are living in the reserved forests. Every year agriculture products of about 6000 Acres of land and about 673 homes are bring destroyed and average 53 peoples are dying. The Chief Minister has instructed to submit proposal to raise the compensation .

Similarly the elephants are dyeing in accident, poisoning, etc. Recently four elephant in Similipal reserve forest, and one elephant in Karanjia forest abnormally died. It was also discussed about tigers, Crocodiles, turtles, deer and dolphin were discussed.

Among others principal Secretary of the Chief Minister Bijaya Kumar Patnaik, Principal Secretary of Forest and Environment U.N. Behera, PCC Works P.N. Pran were present.
