CM reviews security measures ahead of 48-hour Maoist bandh call from July 7
In view of the 48-hour bandh called by the Maoists to protest the encounter of their leader Azad, the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday reviewed the law and order situation in the state to prevent any untoward incident.
In a high-level meeting the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the law and order situation in the state, prior to 48-hour Maoist bandh called to protest the encounter of their top leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad on Wednesday. The rail services would be targeted and have also urged passengers to cancel their trips during the period.
Besides strengthening security of various passenger trains plying through naxal-infested areas, countering any attack by the rebels were the key issues discussed at the review meet here today.
It should be noted that besides Orissa, the state governments of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharastra have also strengthened security measures.
