Mahanadi Coalfields Chairman meets chief minister Naveen Patnaik
Bhubaneswar : Chairman and managing director of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) SR Upadhyay met the chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat here and apprised him of the problems faced by the MCL due to frequent stoppages of the mines.
The chief minister assured him of all possible help in the matter and instructed Energy Secretary and Special Secretary to look into the issue. Among others, MCL nodal officer SK Nayak also attended the meeting.The meeting discussed about the opening of a medical college at Talcher.It was agreed that the MCL and the state government would jointly have stakes in the college.
Patnaik also assured that extra land at Talcher would be provided to the MCL for tree plantation.
The MCL CMD also offered to undertake plantation in the surroundings of the Mukteshwar Temple in Bhubaneswar that was accepted by the chief minister.Earlier, Upadhyay met principal secretary, forest and environment UN Behera regarding issues related to forest and environment and it was agreed to conduct a seminar in Bhubaneswar to deliberate on these issues.
