Naveen Patnaik pats chess player
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has congratulated gifted chess player Kiran Manisha Mohanty, who won the coveted Woman Grand Master (WGM) title in the just-concluded world chess championship at Dhaka in Bangladesh. She is the first woman chess player of the State to claim the title.
In a letter to the chess sensation, Mr. Patnaik has mentioned that Kiran has created history and her success would inspire women of the State to excel in their respective fields.
The people of the State are proud of her spectacular achievements, the Chief Minister has maintained.
A former national and Asian champion in various categories, city-based Kiran achieved the three required norms to claim the coveted title, explains her coach Manoj Panigrahi.
She had earlier acquired the Grand Master norms in the national women\'s meets held in New Delhi and Chennai in 2007 and 2009.
