Naveen Patnaik says state government working for development of Adivasis

Sharply reacting to the indirect allegation of Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that the government is committed for the welfare of the poor specially tribal people in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik termed the Congress general secretarys allegation as incorrect. The Chief Minister said this at the State Secretariat while he was asked to comment on Rahuls allegation.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi without making a direct attack on the BJD government had said that development should not be at the cost of the tribals. He said this while addressing a huge tribal congregation held at Jagannathpur located on the foothills of Niyamgiri today.

On the other hand, the youth wing of Biju Janta Dal (BJD) staged a protest in front of Raj Bhawan against the Centres decision to reject Vedantas proposal for Bauxite mining in Niyamgiri.
