Naveen expels Ganjam ZP President from party

Ruling Biju Janata Dal Supremo Naveen Patnaik today expelled Ganjam District Zilla Parishad Chairman Dharanidhar Behera from the primary membership of the party.Mr Behera had threatened and misbehaved with some officers of the Orissa Administrative Service and some officers of the IAS cadre during a national level workshop held at Chhatrapur on January 6 last for not being invited to a workshop.Mr Behera used filthy languages and manhandled Sorada Block Development Officer(BDO) Kailash Chandra Behera, pushed DRDA Assistant Project Director Ashok Kumar Bhuvan. Later, he also misbehaved with Ganjam District Collector V Kartikeya Pandian at the Chhatrapur Circuit house.As many as 14 IAS officers from Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh,Bihar and the District Collectorsof Bolangir, Nabarangpur and Mayuirbhanj felt awkward during the incident.Orissa Administration Service Association President Madan Mohan Deo and Secretary Shatrughan Kar later lodged an FIR against Mr Behera for threatening and misbehaving with the officers.
State Panchayatiraj Minister Prafulla Samal had described the incident as most unfortunate.
