Orissa CM N Patnaik inaugurates new academic block

On the first day of study session at XIMB, the students interacted with Orissa CM Naveen Patnaik

The Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneshwar (XIMB) started another session with the new batch of PGDM program students on June 22, 2009. While speaking to MBAUniverse.com XIMB Director Fr PT Joseph said that the MBA institute has succeeded in adding 30 more seats in this year’s academic session. “Until now 150 students have been enrolled for the MBA program. XIMB was waiting for AICTE’s approval to add 30 more seats which has been done now,” Fr Joseph said.

On the first day of the study session, Chief Minister of Orissa Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the new acedamic block. After the inaugural ceremony of a new seven-storied academic block, Patnaik spoke to a gathering of more than 800 people. Congratulating the XIMB, Patnaik said, “The XIMB, as an MBA institute, has a lot to offer.”

Prior to the commencement of the study session, the MBA institute had organised an orientation program for the newcomers on June 19, 2022 at the XIMB Bhubaneshwar campus. According to the information shared by XIMB, “All new students who joined the MBA program in 2009 were inducted through an orientation program. The XIMB Director and all departmental Deans, along with other faculty and department members, enriched the orientation program by sharing their views and experiences with the new MBA students. Apart from apprising them with the institute’s norms and procedures, the speakers introduced the students with the tools and technique of study at XIMB.”

The XIMB has also introduced a lot of changes in the MBA program course structure to meet with the challenges of the new world order. Fr Joseph said, “This year’s MBA program course structure would be highly advanced and extremely condensed to provide the students with the best content possible, that too in the least possible time.” He explained that the time derived from condensing the courses would be put to use by engaging the students in more CEO talks, seminars, rural exposure and practical exposure, thereby providing them with first-hand experience of practical management.

While sharing details with MBAUniverse.com, the Director of XIMB said, “The XIMB has updated the entire syllabus model and introduced about 16 new courses in this year’s MBA program. Also, a few 3-credit core courses have been brought down to 1.5-credits or 2-credits. This has been done so that the gist of the subject can be taught to the students in as much little time as possible and to incorporate more emerging aspects of study in the MBA program.” He added that the total teaching hours have been brought down from 1200 hours to 1050 hours in keeping with the AICTE norms.

While stating that the MBA institute has not yet planned any out-of-campus activity for the freshers attending the orientation, Fr Joesph said, “The orientation focused on acquainting the students of MBA program with the life at XIMB campus. The XIMB has also set up many advanced facilities to provide the students with an enhanced teaching-learning environment.” He added that the total study fee for this year’s PGDM program at the MBA institute, situated in Bhubaneshwar, is Rs 6.46 lakh.
