Orissa CM approves plans for development of weavers


For social and financial development of the weavers in the state a five year plan prospective plan prepared by the department of Textiles has been approved by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.A meeting held in the Orissa secretariat on Friday under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The five year prospective plan prepared by the department of Textiles has been approved by the Chief Minister. As per the information the state government will provide Rs 185 crore and Rs 300 crore by the World Bank. More and more woman Self Help groups will be organised. A pension fund will be set up for the pension of the weavers above 60 years of age. 353 numbers of Common faculty centres will be set up by an expenditure of 11.80 crore and 8 training and production centres will be opened . More and more textile exhibition will be organised in the state and the production of the weavers will be exhibited in the national and International fairs.Among others Development Commissioner Satya Prakash Nanda, Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister Bijaya Kumar Patnaik, Secretary of the department of Textiles and handloom Arati Ahuja were present.
