Orissa CM launches Biometric ration cards at Rayagada

The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the Biometric ration cards at Rayagada on Wednesday. It will bring transparency in the public distribution system (PDS) in the state.

This system introduced in the state jointly by the state government and the World Food Programme (WFP) .It is for the first time introduced in the state at Rayagada. Basing on its result the system will be introduced in whole state. The transaction between the beneficiary and the Fair Price Shop owner will be exhibited in the government website, which will further enhance transparency in distribution of PDS items like rice, wheat, kerosene and others.

Representative of World Food Programme (WFP ) Mihoko Tamamura was present.
