Orissa CM says BJD to support Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed here on Saturday that his party, Biju Janata Dal, will support the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament. He expressed that after approval of the bill in the Parliament reservation of 33% will be in both Parliament and State assembly. After implementation of this reservation, 49 seats will be available for the womens in the state assembly and 7 seats will be available for womens in the Parliament. Claiming that his party always stood for women's rights, Patnaik said the BJD MPs will vote in support of the Women's Reservation Bill in both Houses of Parliament. This bill is a Progressive one.
Earlier, the BJP and Congress had issued whips to ensure that the Bill gets passed, when it comes up for discussion in Rajya Sabha on March 8. �The BJP has welcomed the bill and will support it in the Parliament,� Jual Oram, state BJP president said.
