Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik condoles on death of Jyoti Basu

Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed hearty grief on the death of senior leader Jyoti Basu. Describing Basu as a tall leader in the Indian politics, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said, “With Basu’s demise, an era of Indian politics came to an end. He was the longest-serving Chief Minister in India. I was shocked to hear his demise,” Patnaik said. Patnaik said in a message adding the death was a loss not only for the people of West Bengal but for the entire country. The leaders of various political parties including CPI (M), CPI, and Congress also condoled the demise of Jyoti Basu who remained Chief Minister of West Bengal for 23 years.
