Orissa Chief Minister directs State Pollution Control Board to take step against polluting industrie
The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has instructed the State Pollution Control Board to take drastic action against the Industries , which have still not controlled the pollution inspite of repeated warning. The state pollution Control Board, Different government departments and Industries to submit the report within two months regarding the steps taken for control the pollution .The Chief Minister has reviewed the Pollution of water, Air and Soil and in which way it could be controlled as recommended by the Indian School of Mines , Dhanbad.After the review meeting the Secretary of Forest and environment U.N.Behera and Chairman of the state Pollution Control Board Sidhanta das told the media persons that It has been identified that the pollution is excess in Talcher, Angul ,Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, IB, and Paradeep areas. Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and NERI of Nagpur were requested by the board to suggest the way for controll the pollution in the above areas. In the mean time the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad has submitted their report , while the NERI of Nagpur will submit their interim report in February and complete report by the month of December. Sri Behera said in the mean time Kharagpur IIT has submitted their report on pollution of 107 sponge Iron industries and also recommended the measures to be taken for pollution control. He also expressed that the action will be taken soon for study the pollution of Joda and Barbil areas. Among others Development Commissioner S.P.Nanda, Specialist of Indian School of Mines Dhanbad and officials of the forest department were present.
