  CM reviews development works in Maoist affected areas, state to hire ex-official  
  Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directs state officials to expedite development works in Maoist affected areas. He said this after reviewing the progress of welfare programs in four naxal-hit districts Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Gajapati on Wednesday.

Collectors, SPs of four Maoist-hit districts attended the review meeting today. Chief Minister has directed the SPs and Collectors to listen to the grievances of the people and organize meeting in each tehsil and block office in every Saturday. Chief minister asked the district authorities to hire people from among retired government servants and others to undertake certain works to expedite developmental activities affected due to lack of manpower.

Chief Secretary Tarunkanti Mishra said Funds are not a deterrent. But shortage of manpower is the main reason behind the delay in the completion of the projects. Chief Secretary Mishra said to media in meeting government decided to made attractive surrender policy and financial assistance will be provided to the naxals who give up arms in the state. The existing police stations in these areas would be converted into model police stations. State will also provide free land, Rs 2.5 lakh and free education to Naxals who give up arms.
