Joined Prajamandal Movement 1947. During communal troubles organised "Kosal Utkal Praja Parishad". This Organisation merged with Ganatantra Parishad later. Organised Bhouma Conference and became its President. Chairman Panchayat Samiti 1961. Member Orissa Small Savings Advisory Board. Through his efforts Keonjhar district was placed first in small savings and got the shield. Took keen interest in Trade Union activities and established educational institutions in the constituency.
